Head-On Crashes in New Madrid County

Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of roadway accidents, particularly on rural highways like US 62 where traffic often travels at higher speeds and opposing lanes are separated only by a centerline. In Missouri, centerline crossover crashes frequently result in severe injuries or fatalities due to the force of impact.

Contributing factors in these crashes can include driver distraction, fatigue, medical emergencies, or impaired driving. Reduced visibility during evening hours may also increase risks, especially on rural stretches of highway with limited lighting.

When a fatal or serious injury crash occurs, surviving family members and injured victims may face significant emotional and financial challenges. Medical expenses, lost income, and long-term recovery needs can quickly add up. Under Missouri law, those affected by a serious collision may have legal options to pursue compensation when negligence is involved.

Legal support can be critical in these situations. Families of victims may be eligible to pursue compensation for funeral expenses, medical costs prior to death, emotional suffering, and other losses if negligence contributed to the accident. Early legal intervention is essential to ensure that key evidence, such as surveillance footage, train data logs, and witness statements, is preserved and properly documented.
