Cole Co., MO – One Pedestrian Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Christmas Eve Crash on Rte M

Cole County, MO (December 25, 2025) – One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries following a pedestrian crash on Christmas Eve in Cole County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the crash occurred at about 8:20 p.m. on Route M, west of Stoney Gap Road, in the Taos area. An 85-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman were attempting to cross the highway when they were struck by a Honda Accord. The vehicle was driven by a 16-year-old boy from Jefferson City.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported both pedestrians to Capital Region Medical Center. The 85-year-old man later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 86-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia for further treatment.

The teenage driver was not injured in the collision.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
