Lawson, MO – One Killed, Multiple Injured in Crash Involving Trash Truck on Rte PP

Lawson, MO (January 30, 2026) – One person was killed and three others were injured onThursday , January 29, following a serious multi-vehicle crash on Route PP in Clinton County. The crash occurred just after 6:05 a.m., about one mile west of U.S. 69 and roughly three miles northwest of Lawson.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), a 2015 Toyota Highlander was traveling west on Route PP when it struck a trash truck head-on. The force of the impact pushed the Toyota into the path of a westbound GMC Sierra van, which then struck the rear of the Toyota.

The 22-year-old male driver of the Toyota, from Lawson, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released. A 26-year-old man driving the GMC Sierra suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Kansas City for treatment.

The driver of the trash truck, a 30-year-old woman, and a 38-year-old male passenger were both injured. They were taken by ambulance to a hospital in Liberty with moderate injuries. All three vehicles sustained heavy damage and came to rest along the north shoulder of the roadway.

Emergency units responded to assist the injured and secure the crash scene. Authorities have not released information about what caused the Toyota to enter the opposite lane.

The crash remains under investigation.
