Memphis, TN – 6-Year-Old Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Whitney Ave

‍Memphis, TN (March 13, 2026) – A young boy died after a vehicle struck him Thursday afternoon, March 12, along Whitney Avenue in Memphis’ Frayser neighborhood.

Emergency units responded around 3 p.m. after reports of a pedestrian crash involving a child on Whitney Avenue. According to the Memphis Police Department, a Chrysler 200 was traveling westbound when it hit a 6-year-old boy who was in the westbound lane of traffic.

Paramedics arrived and quickly provided medical assistance at the scene. Crews transported the child to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition so doctors could begin emergency treatment.

Doctors later confirmed that the boy died from the injuries he suffered in the crash. Officials have not released additional information about the circumstances that led to the accident. 

Police identified the driver as Kenyunte Goss. Authorities said the driver remained at the scene after the crash and cooperated with responding officers. Investigators later charged Goss with driving while her license was suspended, revoked, or canceled. Police also charged her under the state’s financial responsibility law in accordance with the mandatory arrest requirements connected to the Ricky Otts Act.

Officials have not released additional details about the events leading up to the accident. The investigation into the fatal pedestrian accident remains ongoing.
