Mercer, MO — Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash at Rte P and Decal St

Mercer, MO (March 11, 2026) — A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Tuesday, March 10, resulting in the death of an 84-year-old man and serious injuries to his passenger.

The crash took place at the intersection of Route P and Decal Street, approximately eight miles west of Mercer. According to preliminary reports, an 84-year-old male driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Impala was stopped at a stop sign facing eastbound on Decal Street. As he entered the intersection, his vehicle failed to yield to a 2013 Chevrolet 2500 traveling southbound on Route P, driven by a 48-year-old male.

The southbound truck struck the Impala in the driver’s side. The impact forced the Impala off the east side of the roadway, where it came to rest facing northeast. The truck continued southward before coming to a controlled stop in the northbound lane.

The 84-year-old driver of the Impala was pronounced deceased at the scene. His 83-year-old passenger was transported to Wayne County Hospital with serious injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
