Milwaukee, WI – Tanker Driver Injured in Semi Rollover Crash at Mitchell Interchange

Milwaukee, WI (October 30, 2025) – A semi rollover crash involving a tanker truck injured one person on October 29, in Milwaukee County.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened across the Mitchell Interchange and Airport Spur. A semi driven by a 35-year-old man struck the tanker, causing it to roll over. The striking driver fled the scene but was later arrested at a nearby gas station.

The driver of the tanker was taken to a hospital with reported arm pain. Authorities said the tanker was hauling a non-flammable hazardous liquid known as glass resin. Emergency crews began transferring the liquid to a relief tanker at the scene.

Multiple ramps and lanes were shut down following the crash, including connections from Layton Avenue, College Avenue, and several major routes through the interchange. The lanes began reopening around 8:30 p.m. as the cleanup progressed.

Deputies are still working to determine the full cause of the crash.

We send our best wishes to the injured tanker driver and hope for a quick and full recovery.

Truck Accidents in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Large truck accidents, especially those involving tankers or commercial semis, pose serious dangers to everyone on the road. In a busy transportation hub like Milwaukee, truck crashes are unfortunately not uncommon, especially near major interchanges such as the Mitchell Interchange.

Tanker trucks are particularly hazardous because they often carry chemicals, fuel, or other industrial liquids. Even when the cargo is non-flammable—as in this recent incident involving glass resin—cleanup is complex, and the risk of injury to drivers and first responders is significant. A rollover, like the one that occurred in this case, often results in serious injuries, even when the initial impact seems minor. The size and weight of commercial vehicles can lead to long-lasting physical and financial consequences for those involved.

Victims of truck accidents in Wisconsin may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and other damages. When a crash involves a hit-and-run, the situation becomes even more complicated. Having a skilled truck accident lawyer can help ensure victims are not left alone to navigate the legal and insurance processes.

Wisconsin law requires all drivers to remain at the scene of an accident, especially when injuries are involved. Fleeing the scene not only makes the situation worse but also carries serious legal consequences. In these situations, legal representation is critical for holding the responsible party accountable and securing the compensation victims deserve.
