St. Louis, MO – Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run at Greer & Goodfellow Ave
St. Louis, MO (November 16, 2025) - A pedestrian tragically died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run on Friday, November 14, in north St. Louis. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) reported the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. at Greer and Goodfellow Avenue in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood.
Investigators say witnesses saw the victim lying in the middle of Goodfellow Avenue and attempted to help. Before they could assist, a tan pickup truck struck the individual and fled the scene. Emergency responders were called, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim. The SLMPD Accident Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the crash, and the Police are searching for the tan pickup truck involved and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time. We extend our sincere condolences to them.
Pedestrian Accidents in St. Louis
Pedestrian accidents in St. Louis remain a serious concern, particularly in north city neighborhoods where high traffic volumes, poor lighting, and limited marked crossings can create dangerous conditions. Hit-and-run incidents like this one are especially alarming because victims may not receive immediate medical attention, and any delay in treatment can significantly increase the risk of fatal outcomes. In densely populated areas such as Wells-Goodfellow, heavy vehicle activity combined with narrow streets further heightens the risk for those on foot.
Pedestrians struck by vehicles can suffer catastrophic injuries, including head trauma, broken bones, spinal cord injuries, and internal bleeding. Older adults and individuals crossing outside designated crosswalks are particularly vulnerable. According to Missouri traffic safety reports, pedestrian fatalities have steadily increased in urban areas, with many occurring during low-light conditions, rush-hour traffic, or in neighborhoods with insufficient sidewalks or crosswalk visibility.
For families of victims in fatal pedestrian accidents, the aftermath can be overwhelming. Emotional trauma, unexpected funeral costs, and complex legal matters can create additional burdens during an already devastating time. An experienced attorney can guide families through the process of seeking compensation, including wrongful death claims, medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering. Attorneys can investigate the accident, gather witness statements, review surveillance footage, analyze vehicle damage, and identify all liable parties, an essential step in hit-and-run cases where multiple vehicles may have played a role.
In addition to legal representation, wrongful death attorneys can assist families in dealing with insurance companies that may attempt to minimize payouts or deny liability. They also ensure all legal deadlines are met and that families understand every step of the claims process, providing both advocacy and much-needed support.
