Franklin Co., MO — Double Fatality Following Head-On Crash on Hwy 30

Franklin County, MO (March 1, 2026) — Two lives were tragically lost on Saturday, February 28, following a head-on collision on Highway 30. The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) responded to the crash near Pond Ford Road at approximately 9:24 a.m.

According to the official crash report, the accident occurred when a Chevrolet S-10, driven by a 17-year-old male from Lonedell, crossed the center line for reasons still under investigation. The Chevrolet traveled into the path of an oncoming Lincoln MKC, resulting in a high-impact, head-on collision.

The 17-year-old driver of the Chevrolet was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Lincoln, identified as a 77-year-old male from Grubville, was stabilized by first responders and rushed by ground ambulance to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts by medical staff, he was later pronounced deceased.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the loved ones of both of the persons who lost their lives.

You Were Hurt in a crash in Missouri, What's Next?

If you were hurt in a crash in Missouri, the following next steps can help you protect both your health and your rights.

First, prioritize medical care. Even if injuries seem minor, it’s important to be evaluated by a medical professional. Some conditions, such as concussions or internal injuries, may not show symptoms right away. Prompt treatment also creates documentation that may be important later.

Missouri law generally requires drivers to report crashes that result in injury, death, or significant property damage. Law enforcement officers who respond to the scene will typically complete a crash report. You can request a copy through the Missouri State Highway Patrol or the local police department that investigated the collision.

Missouri follows a “pure comparative fault” system. That means you can seek compensation even if you were partially at fault, but your recovery may be reduced by your percentage of responsibility.

The state also has a five-year statute of limitations for most personal injury claims arising from vehicle crashes, under Missouri Revised Statutes. Filing after that deadline can bar recovery, so it's important that you file your claim within this time limit.

Missouri requires drivers to carry minimum liability insurance. The Missouri Department of Revenue oversees driver licensing and insurance compliance. If another driver was uninsured or underinsured, your own policy may include coverage that applies.

Before speaking with insurance adjusters, consider reviewing your policy and understanding your coverage. Keep copies of medical records, repair estimates, and correspondence. If you have questions about liability, damages, or deadlines, consulting a licensed Missouri personal injury attorney can help you understand your options and next steps under state law.
