Kenosha, WI – Woman Critically Injured in Head-On Crash on Basset Rd

Kenosha, WI (November 30, 2025) – A 40-year-old woman suffered critical injuries on Friday, November 28, after a head-on crash on Basset Road.

Deputies from the Kenosha Sheriff's Office responded around 8:39 p.m. to the 34500 block of Basset Rd., where the woman’s eastbound Nissan Rogue struck a large John Deere grain drill. The farm equipment was being towed by a Ford F-350.

The impact threw the woman from her vehicle. Flight for Life crews flew her to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee for urgent care. Deputies said the truck’s 43-year-old driver stayed at the scene and cooperated.

Because of the serious injuries, the Major Crash Assistance Team arrived to complete a full reconstruction. Investigators launched a drone to document the scene. During that process, a nearby resident shone a flashlight at the drone and deputies. He ignored orders to stop. Deputies said he moved toward them and resisted arrest, which caused the drone operator to lose control. The drone crashed into nearby trees.

Deputies arrested the man, a 39-year-old neighbor, on charges of resisting and obstructing, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage to property. Officials have not released the names of the drivers. The investigation remains active.

Our thoughts are with the woman injured in this crash, and we hope for her full and swift recovery.

Crashes Involving Farm Equipment in Kenosha County

Crashes involving farm equipment are a serious safety concern in Kenosha County, especially on rural roads where large machinery often shares space with regular traffic.

Recent state data shows that collisions with agricultural equipment represent a small portion of total crashes, yet they frequently result in severe or life-threatening injuries. This is because farm machinery, such as grain drills, combines, and tractors, moves slowly, is wide, and can be difficult for drivers to see or react to in time.

Rural roads often have limited lighting and narrow lanes, increasing the risk of a driver approaching farm equipment too quickly, particularly at night. When a passenger vehicle strikes heavy machinery, the impact can cause catastrophic damage. Victims may suffer internal injuries, spinal trauma, severe fractures, or other critical harm because the structures of farm equipment are large, rigid, and unforgiving. In many cases, drivers do not recognize what they are approaching until avoiding a collision is no longer possible.

These types of crashes also create long recovery periods. Victims may require extensive medical treatment, hospital stays, rehabilitation, and ongoing care. The physical challenges can be significant, and the financial strain often grows as medical bills and lost income accumulate.

A skilled attorney can offer important help after a collision involving farm machinery. They can examine the crash scene, work with reconstruction experts, review lighting and roadway conditions, and determine whether the farm equipment had proper markings, lighting, or reflectors.

Also, attorneys can communicate with insurance companies, gather witness statements, and identify all possible sources of compensation. Depending on the circumstances, victims may recover damages for medical expenses, rehabilitation, lost wages, pain and suffering, and long-term care needs.
