McEwen, TN – Deadly Explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems Plant
McEwen, TN (October 10, 2025) – A powerful explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems facility in McEwen on Friday, October 10, left multiple people dead and others missing. Officials described the blast as “devastating,” with the explosion destroying an entire building at the plant around 7:45 a.m.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said that 19 individuals remain unaccounted for and are feared dead. He somberly called the destruction “the most devastating scene” of his career. The explosion occurred near the Humphreys and Hickman County line, about 60 miles southwest of Nashville.
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency confirmed that the facility processes ammunition and explosives, but does not manufacture them. Emergency crews have been working tirelessly to sift through debris, a process expected to take several days or even a week or more.
Throughout Friday, officials began notifying families of those impacted. The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and search operations will continue through the night as authorities work to determine what led to the tragic blast.
Our thoughts are with the families of the victims during this heartbreaking time. We extend our sincere condolences to them.
Industrial Explosions at Workplaces in Tennessee
Industrial explosions are among the most dangerous workplace accidents in Tennessee. They often lead to catastrophic injuries, long-term disabilities, or tragic loss of life. The explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems plant in McEwen serves as a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly a normal workday can turn deadly.
Workplace explosions can happen in factories, chemical plants, or manufacturing facilities. These incidents often result from safety lapses, improper storage of flammable materials, or equipment malfunction. Even with strict safety rules in place, a single mistake can have devastating consequences.
When explosions occur, the aftermath can leave victims and their families facing physical, emotional, and financial challenges. In Tennessee, workers and their families have legal rights after a wrongful death at the workplace or severe workplace injury. Compensation may be available to cover:
- Medical expenses and rehabilitation costs
- Lost wages and future income
- Pain, suffering, and emotional distress
- Funeral and burial expenses for victims of fatal incidents
- Loss of companionship and financial support for surviving family members
Employers and plant owners must provide safe working environments and proper training for employees. When they fail to do so, they can be held accountable for the harm caused. Seeking help from an experienced wrongful death attorney helps to ensure that victims’ rights are protected and that families receive fair compensation for their losses.
