North Fond du Lac, WI – 14-Year-Old Girl Killed, Three Others Injured in Pioneer Rd Collision

North Fond du Lac, WI (February 17, 2026) – A tragic two-vehicle accident on Pioneer Road claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl and left three others hospitalized on Monday, February 16. Emergency responders were called to the scene south of Mockingbird Lane at approximately 3:50 p.m.

Preliminary reports from the North Fond du Lac Police Department indicate that a sedan traveling northbound on Pioneer Road crossed the center line for reasons still under investigation. This resulted in a head-on collision with a southbound pickup truck.

A 14-year-old girl from Fond du Lac, who was a passenger in the sedan, was rushed to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Two other occupants of the sedan and the driver of the pickup truck were also transported for medical care; all three are currently reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities noted that all individuals involved are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the girl who lost her life.

What Are My Rights And Obligations After a Car Crash in Wisconsin?

First, you must stop at the scene and remain there. Wisconsin law requires drivers to stop and provide assistance to anyone who is injured, including arranging for transportation to medical care if necessary. You must also exchange your name, address, driver’s license, and insurance information with others involved.

Leaving the scene of an accident without fulfilling these duties can lead to criminal charges and penalties.

In many crashes, you are legally obligated to report the accident to law enforcement immediately. Under Wisconsin legislation, if an accident results in injury, death, at least $1,000 in property damage to a person, or at least $200 to government property, you must notify police or sheriff’s deputies right away.

If officers do not make a report on the scene, you must file a written crash report with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation within 10 days. Failing to report when required can result in fines and even suspension of your driver’s license.

You also have rights related to insurance and compensation. Wisconsin requires drivers to carry minimum liability coverage (for example, at least $25,000 for bodily injury per person and $50,000 per accident), and most policies require prompt notice of an accident.

Timely reporting to your insurer helps preserve your rights to compensation for medical bills, vehicle repairs, and other losses. If the other driver was uninsured, Wisconsin’s Safety Responsibility Law gives you tools to pursue damages, and the state can take action like suspending the uninsured driver’s license if they don’t pay.

Finally, if you’ve been injured due to someone else’s negligence, you generally have the right to seek compensation through their insurance or in court. Wisconsin follows a comparative negligence rule: as long as you are not more than 50 per cent at fault, you can seek damages, though your recovery may be reduced by your share of fault.

To protect these rights, document the scene with photos, seek medical care promptly, and consider consulting a lawyer if there are serious injuries or disputes.
