St. Louis Co., MO — Two Women Killed, Multiple Others Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on MO-367
St. Louis County, MO (January 04, 2026) — A tragic two-vehicle crash on southbound MO-367 claimed the lives of two young women and left several others seriously injured, according to official crash details released by authorities.
The collision occurred on Friday, January 2, along southbound Missouri Route 367, just south of Chambers Road. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:18 p.m. after receiving reports of a severe crash involving multiple occupants.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reported that a 2016 Chrysler 300 carrying three passengers lost control while traveling southbound. The vehicle rotated sideways and into the path of oncoming southbound traffic. As a result, the front of another vehicle, a 2015 Mazda 3 with three occupants, struck the driver’s side passenger door of the Chrysler.
The impact caused catastrophic damage to both vehicles. A 26-year-old female occupant of the Chrysler 300 was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. The driver of the Mazda 3, a 22-year-old woman, was transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
All remaining passengers from both vehicles sustained serious to moderate injuries. They were transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis by Christian Hospital EMS for treatment. The full extent of their injuries has not been publicly disclosed.
At this time, officials have not released information regarding possible contributing factors. The crash remains under investigation.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this loss, and we also wish those who were injured a safe and steady recovery as they heal.
Deadly Wrong-Way Crashes in St. Louis County
Loss-of-control crashes and roadway departures remain a leading cause of fatal collisions across St. Louis County and throughout Missouri. When a vehicle crosses a center line or enters opposing lanes of traffic, the likelihood of severe or fatal injuries increases significantly due to the force of impact and limited reaction time for other drivers.
High-speed corridors such as MO-367 can be especially dangerous when vehicles lose traction or stability. Even brief lapses in control can result in devastating consequences, particularly when multiple passengers are involved. Side-impact collisions, as the one reported in this incident, are among the most dangerous crash types because occupants have less structural protection compared to front or rear impacts.
Fatal crashes often trigger extensive investigations. Authorities may analyze skid marks, vehicle damage, roadway geometry, weather conditions, and data from vehicle systems to determine how the crash occurred. These findings can take weeks or months to finalize.
For survivors and families affected by fatal accidents, the aftermath is often overwhelming. Beyond the emotional toll of sudden loss, injured victims may face long-term medical care, rehabilitation, and financial strain. Families of those killed may also be left navigating unexpected expenses and unanswered questions.
When a fatal collision occurs and if negligence is suspected, surviving relatives may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death action under Missouri law. These claims are designed to address both the financial and emotional consequences of a sudden loss, including costs associated with funeral services, medical treatment provided before death, and the loss of a loved one’s companionship and support. While no legal action can undo the tragedy, financial recovery may help ease some of the unexpected pressures families face.
Attorneys who handle fatal accident cases understand how to evaluate crash reports, gather evidence, and work with insurers to protect a family’s interests. Legal guidance can be especially valuable when determining liability and navigating complex insurance claims during an already difficult time.
If your family has been impacted by a deadly accident, speaking with a wrongful death attorney can help clarify your options and next steps.
