Two Hospitalized After Serious Three-Vehicle Crash in Dodge County
Kekoskee, WI (December 11, 2025) – Two drivers were hospitalized following a serious three-vehicle collision early on December 10 in Dodge County.
The crash occurred around 5:44 a.m. on State Highway 28 near Old Highway 28 in the Village of Kekoskee, just east of Horicon. Deputies say a pickup truck and a passenger car were both traveling westbound when the pickup driver attempted to pass the car. After completing the pass, the pickup lost control on the snow-covered roadway, crossed the center line, and collided with an oncoming semi-truck in the eastbound lanes.
The 43-year-old man driving the pickup was seriously injured and transported to a nearby medical center for treatment. The 37-year-old semi-truck driver was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The 30-year-old driver of the passenger car was not injured in the crash.
Authorities say snow and blowing winds at the time of the collision created poor visibility and slick conditions, which likely contributed to the incident. State Highway 28 was closed for approximately two and a half hours to allow emergency crews to clear the scene and conduct an initial investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
Our thoughts are with those injured in this crash as they begin the road to recovery. We hope for their full and swift healing.
Truck Accidents and Hazardous Road Conditions in Wisconsin
Winter driving in Wisconsin presents serious risks, particularly when snow, ice, and strong winds reduce visibility and make roads slick. Commercial vehicles like semi-trucks and pickup trucks are especially vulnerable to collisions due to their size, weight, and longer stopping distances. When crashes happen under these conditions, the consequences are often severe.
The recent crash in Dodge County, where a pickup truck lost control on State Highway 28 and collided with a semi-truck, underscores how quickly hazardous weather can lead to a serious accident. Even drivers who are cautious and experienced can become victims when another motorist makes a risky maneuver—such as passing in unsafe conditions or driving too fast for the weather.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, drivers should reduce speed, increase following distance, and avoid abrupt lane changes or passes during winter storms. Unfortunately, not all drivers heed this advice. When poor judgment leads to a collision, especially one involving commercial vehicles, victims may suffer serious injuries and significant financial stress.
If you or someone you love has been hurt in a crash involving a semi-truck or other large vehicle, you may have the right to pursue compensation. A professional truck accident attorney can investigate the circumstances of the accident, determine who is at fault, and seek damages for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and more.
